Yahoo Messenger has been my favorite browser since a long time. I believe it has always been a trend setter in terms of features that are provided by instant messsengers. Now, Yahoo Messenger has come out with beta version of Yahoo Messenger 10. It is an improved, and much better Yahoo Messenger.

The focus of Yahoo Messenger 10 seems to be on 2 major factors:

• Integration with Social Networking websites.
• Video Calling

Integration with Social Networking websites

Yahoo Messenger team seems to have spent lot of time on trying to find out how to do a better integration with Social Networking sites out there. Results are pretty good. Yahoo Messenger 10 lets you see updates of your friends from Yahoo sites, such as Yahoo Buzz, Flickr etc. Apart from this, it also pulls their updates from non Yahoo sites, such as Twitter. So, essentially, you can see updates of all your friends in all the websites by just logging into Yahoo Messenger. Really cool!

Yahoo Messenger gives you option to control the updates that you want to see. You can select the sites from which you want to see updates, and also select the friends whose updates you want to see. Apart from this, you also get an option to get an alert whenever any of your friend has a new update.

Free Video Calls

I believe that Yahoo Messenger has given so much focus to Video Calling to lure away some of the users away from Skype. Till now, Yahoo messenger had option to see webcam, and make an audio call. There wasn’t an integrated video calling feature. That has been added now. You can make a video call to any of your friend, and see them as well as talk to them. The video quality is really good, and you get many options to control layout of video windows.

Other features in version 10 include:

• Better user interface, and newer icons.
• Improved Language Support: Now you can choose the language in which you want Yahoo Messenger to run on the login screen itself.
• Built-in media player to watch web videos and view photos with friends.

Firefox 3.5 is out, and it is even better than before. Firefox has always been a revolutionary browser. It has been the only browser that gives really true competition to Internet Explorer, and is completely open source. In fact, it it frequently touted as one of the most successful open source applications.

More Secure: New Firefox has improved Anti-Phishing & Anti-Malware protection. Apart from this, it comes with Parental control, Password Manager, and customized security settings.

Awesome Bar: A more improved address bar, that easily remembers the websites you have visited or tagged, and can easily find them for you.

Location-Aware Browsing: Firefox can tell websites where you are located, so that websites serve information that is more relevant to you. You can disable this feature if you don’t like it.

Open Video and Audio support: Firefox is the first browser to support Open Video and Audio formats. What this means is that websites can directly display audio and video content in that format without a need for special software or plugins. This is really great.

Fotobounce is a free software that lets you download complete photo albums from Facebook. You can download your photos, as well as your friends’. To download photo albums from Facebook, just login to Facebook inside Fotobounce. Fotobounce will start showing your albums and all your friends. Then, you can directly download Facecbook albums from inside Fotobounce. Very easy.

Fotobounce also lets you upload photos directly to Facebook and Flickr. So, it becomes very easy to upload your photo albums to Facebook directly.

Another cool feature of Fotobounce is that it comes with an advanced face recognition feature. What that means is it can identify faces. So, once you start tagging faces, Fotobounce will learn that and starts identifying the faces and do automatic taggging of them. Great!

The tags that you create are preserved when you upload photos to Facebook. So, Fotobounce comes real handy in both downloading photo albums from Facebook, as well as uploading photos to Facebook.

Pidgin is an instant messaging program for Windows, Linux, BSD, and other Unixes. You can talk to your friends using AIM, ICQ, Jabber/XMPP, MSN Messenger, Yahoo!, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, QQ, Lotus Sametime, SILC, SIMPLE, and Zephyr.
