ADrive is a free Online online backup and online storage space provider that offers 50GB of online space Free! You can use this huge amount of space to keep a backup of your music and video files. The amount of space should be enough to store almost everything from your hard disk into this online storage and backup service. You can then access your files from anywhere.

I have reviewed a few online backup and storage services earlier. The one that had highest storage space was SkyDrive. It offers 25GB of free storage space. ADrive has gone a step further and is offering 50GB of free space. That is amazing.

Here are some of the features of ADrive:

• Completely free 50GB online space for Individual and Personal use.
• You can upload entire folders and directory.
• You can easily share any file with your friends. When you choose the Share option for any file, ADrive will generate a unique URL for that. Anyone can download you file directly by clicking on that unique URL.
• Access files from anywhere.
• ADrive lets you edit your Word and Excel files online directly using Zoho editor.
• Works with Internet Explorer, and Firefox.

The free version of ADrive does not comes with a desktop tool that can automatically keep your data backed up (like Dropbox, and Mozy provide). I would suggest using this free service in conjunction with some backup service that can take care of backups automatically of your important data. Like, you can use ADrive to store your big files, like video and music files, that you do not need to keep updated all the time. Apart from this, you can use Mozy or SpiderOak to take care of automatic backup of your other important filess.

Mozy is a well known online backup service that automatically backs up the selected folders on your computer. Mozy has a free version also that provides you with 2GB of online storage space completely free. Mozy backup software keeps running in the background in your computer, and backs up your files and folders regularly, and stores them in your online free space. If anything goes wrong with your computer, you can easily access your files and folders from your online space, and restore them back.

It is very important to keep a backup of your important data. I read in some article, “If you do not have a backup copy of some document, that means you do not need that document”. I have already reviewed a few online backup services, such as SpiderOak, and DropBox. Mozy also falls in the same group, but provides lot of flexibility and ease of use.

To start using Mozy, you need to first create a free online account with Mozy. Once you have created an account, you can download the free Mozy software. This software will take care of everything for you. Once installation is complete, this software will ask you to specify some options.

Choose the Folders to Back Up

Mozy home software lets you choose the folders on your computers that you want to be regularly backed up. This option provides lot of flexibility, as you can select only the folders that you want so as to not waste your free 2GB online space.

If you are not sure about the folders to choose, Mozy also gives an option of Backup sets. Essentially, this groups your data in logical chunks so that you can select that easily. For example, “Photos and Images” will be shown as one backup set, and selecting this will ensure that Mozy will keep all your photos and images backed up.

Schedule Automatic Backup

Mozy provides very flexible options to schedule your backup. You can choose to have Mozy start auto backup whenever your computer is idle for some time (you can specify this time in terms of minutes).

You can also schedule backups on a fixed time on daily or weekly basis. You can also choose to backup every day or every other day. All in all, you get to choose the backup schedule like you want.

Apart from the above options, Mozy home software also comes with built-in option to restore your data. Whenever you want to restore the data, just go to “Restore” tab,  and choose to download the data at any chosen location in your computer. Remember that because all of your data is being backed up online, you can access it from any computer any time.

Mozy is a really good, and easy to use option to keep your data backed up. Free space of 2GB is decent if you need to backup just documents. This space might fall short if you try to backup lots of photographs. For that, you can choose SkyDrive that comes with Free 25GB online backup.
