There are already so many applications out there to share almost anything on Twitter. I have already reviewed some applications to share videos on Twitter (Vidly and Twiddeo), applications to share file on Twitter (FileTwt, and Tweet a File), and even services to share songs on Twitter (Songly). Today I found this another interesting service Desktop Tweet that lets you take a snapshot of your desktop, and post it in Twitter.

DesktopTweet is a free software that you can use to easily take a screenshot of your desktop, and then tweet it on Twitter. DesktopTweet is a desktop application that you need to install on your system. Once installed, it runs in your system tray. To take a screenshot of your desktop, just bring up the application, and then select an area of the screen that you want to capture.

DesktopTweet takes a snapshot of your captured area, and then posts it to an online Twitter image sharing service of your choice. You can select from TwitPic, yFrog, Twitgoo, Pichur, or Posterous. DesktopTweet uses your account on these services to post the picture. Then it will post the URL of the picture in a tweet to your Twitter account.

DesktopTweet makes it extremely easy to post snapshots of your desktop on Twitter. This would come handy if you want to tell someone what you are doing, or what you are looking at. DesktopTweet is pretty basic in its functionality. I wish it came with some basic image editing features as well, so that I could modify the image before posting on Twitter.

Another option could have been to have this feature added in some of the existing screen capture tools, such as Gadwin Printscreen or Jing Project. But if you are looking for just a simple application to post snapshots of your PC on Twitter, DesktopTweet works pretty well.

Many people post their email addresses online unaware of the fact that spammers are continously lookout for those. Spam robots keep searching websites to see if there are easily recognizable email addresses that are posted on the website, and then add it to their spam list. Most of such unprotected email addresses are posted on Contact Us forms of websites, forums, and classified sites.

Earlier I had reviewed a free service iNumbr that helps you hide your phone number in online websites and postings. Today I a free service, Scr.Im, to hide your email address from prying spammers and spam robots. Scr.Im works in a very easy to use way. Scr.Im works the same way as URL shortening service J.mp. To use it, just go to the website, and provide your email address that you want to hide. Scr.Im will give you a unique short URL for the email address that you provide. It even lets you customize the URL, based on its availability.

You can use that custom URL, and post wherever you would post your email address. Now, if someone wants to email you, they would click on that URL. This would take them to Scr.Im’s website where they will have to do a simple captcha test to prove that they are human.

Once they pass the test, Scr.Im reveals your actual email address to them. This ensures that your email address is not captured by any spam robots, and remains hidden online.

Scr.Im also lets you change custom URL for your email address, change email address under your custom URL, and even complete delete the custom URL if you don’t want to use it any more.

To use Scr.Im, you do not need to download or install anything, and do not even need to create an account. It is completely free, and extremely easy to use. While talking about safely, I always recommend that you should be running some good free antivirus on your system.

There is always lots of important data on our computers, but sadly, most of us (including me) do not back up our data properly. We realize the importance of backups only when our system crashes, and is not able to reboot and we find that everything is lost. It might be possible to take our system to some computer experts so that they can recover data from our hard disk, but that can easily cost hundreds of dollars.

Easiest way to backup your data is by using some online backup service, like SkyDrive that gives you 25GB of free online storage. Or, some people use software like SpiderOak that keeps data in sync between 2 computers. These solutions are good for backing up the data. But what about other programs that you have on your system. What if the whole system crashes? How will you get all the programs back in that case? Here is a free and easy solution: Drive Backup Free Edition.

Drive Backup is a free software to backup your entire hard drive or a few partitions of the drive. This basically creates a copy of your selected disks and partitions. If your system ever crashes, you can use that copy to restore entire system with all the programs and complete data. So, you can be relaxed that you are protected. Drive Backup comes with following modules:

Backup Disk or Partition

This is the main option of Drive Backup. This lets you backup your entire disks, or selected partitions. Drive Backup lets you store the backup that it creates on an external disk or firewire disk. You can even store your backup on your local hard disk if you have some additional space there. Of course, it would be still recommended to move that archive to some secure location. Probably, move it to SkyDrive to store it online.

Check Archive Validity

Archives of the entire system normally run a few GB in size. So, it is always recommended to check integrity of your archive to ensure there is no problem with that. Drive Backup comes with a built-in archive validator that can confirm that the archive that was created is not corrupt.

Build Recovery Media on USB Drive or CD/DVD

If your system goes down, it becomes very difficult to boot it up. Drive Backup lets you create recovery media that you can use to boot your system in such a situation. You can create the recovery media on USB drive or a CD/DVD. Then, if your system ever crashes or throws blue screen error, this recovery media can be used to recover the system.

Restore Disk or Partition

Drive Backup does not just limits itself to creating backups of your system. It also helps you in restoring back those backups to recover your system. Drive Backup backs this very easy by guiding you step by step in form of wizards.

Drive Backup is really useful utility to backup your entire system. This would really come handy if your system goes down. I really wish it was integrated with some online storage service like DropBox or SkyDrive.

I sometimes feel a need to keep a export of my tweets, just for some quick and easy reference in future. I found BMS Twitter Export that can do that. BMS Twitter Export is a free software to take export of your tweets, and even download pictures that you have posted using TwitPic. You can even specify start and end dates for your tweets that you want to export. BMS Twitter Export will then export all the tweets within those dates only.

BMS Twitter Export is very easy to use. You do not need to install anything. Just download the zip file, and run the executable. A simple window comes up in which you need to enter your Twitter username, password, start date, end date, and destination filename. BMS Twitter Export then starts working, and exports all your tweets within those specified dates. The tweets are saved as a HTML file, and pictures from Twitpic are saved in a separate folder.

BMS Twitter Export is completely free, and extremely easy to use.  This is a very simplistic application that is just focused on taking export of your tweets and pictures.  I wish it could also download videos shared on Twitter using services like Twiddeo and  Vildly.
